ABOUT

Felix Ansmann (b. 1996, Germany) works across film, image-making, installation, as well as critical writing. Drawing on a background in anthropology, his research-based practice assembles and edits archival and found materials to unpack the complex relationships between images, technology, and economy. 

Ansmann earned his MA at the Technical University and University of the Arts Berlin under Hito Steyerl and holds a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Humboldt-University of Berlin. His works have been shown at Documenta 15, Kassel; Museum of Photography, Berlin; Ars Electronica, Linz; Museum of Modern Art, Bonn; Transmediale, Berlin; Frankfurter Kunstverein, amongst others. In 2020, he was a recipient of the Niio x AI Art Award. He is currently teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig - Department of Photography and has held research positions at the University of the Arts Berlin and New Practice in Art and Technology.
